OH Hello, I’m Devin!

A few things about me…I consider myself an “old soul,” meaning an evening at home with a hot cup of tea and a craft project is my idea of a great time - add my sister or a close friend and it’s a party! I am also an amateur herbalist, I make it a priority in life is to pet ALL the dogs, I have watched The Office five times through (not embarrassed by that), I enjoy the challenge of cooking and baking from scratch, and I love going on walks with my husband, Ryan, and our son, River, through our local prairies and forest preserves in the Chicagoland area. Each time we head out on the trail we find something new and interesting to observe - unknown animal tracks, weird plants, beautiful birds, and soul-filling sights and sounds.

More on my Art career

I received my undergraduate degree in Communications from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 2013, and eventually found myself working in non-profit marketing for about four years. During that time, I decided to supplement my marketing know-how with a Certificate in Graphic Design from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).  As a student in the design program, I randomly stumbled on an article highlighting several top illustrators and hand lettering artists in the field - I was immediately hooked. I had always loved art and drawing since I was little, but I finally saw it as a viable career path! That was that. I gave myself permission to chase a new dream.

Since then, I’ve been continually honing my skills and building up my portfolio. I’m always in the middle of one online class or another, whether it’s through Skillshare or Make Art That Sells. In 2019, I took the leap and began focusing on my career as an artist full-time. Then in 2020, I was happy to join the roster alongside many other talented artists at The Bright Agency!

I am actively looking for projects in editorial illustration, greeting card design, art licensing, and more. I would especially love to create art for brands that align with my values - environmentalism, natural foods and home products, fair trade organizations, and regenerative agriculture. With my combined years of marketing experience and illustration chops, I’m excited to help individuals and brands share their message with engaging artwork!
